If you’ve been following the blog and my natural hair posts, then you know I am on a journey to embrace my curls and get them back to a healthy state. I have been dealing with heat damage for a couple years now; this damage inspired me to get my curly cut in January 2016. I had the option of cutting off all my damaged pieces, but I wanted to salvage some length. Because of this, I just cut a little of my hair so I am still left with some damaged pieces in the front of my hair. This has recently been driving me crazy! The back of my hair is tightly coiled and uniform, while the front is a completely different curl pattern. I was watching Kelsey on the GlamTwinz YouTube channel where she mentioned how deep conditioning really helped her hair when she was recovering from heat damage. That particular video inspired me to do a personal 60-day deep conditioning challenge.
I have deep conditioned here and there, but with this challenge I wanted to challenge myself to deep condition once a week for two months. I started August 24th, and I have been keeping up with it so far. I am hoping to see increased growth and moisture of my hair. My biggest hope is that some of my damaged pieces will be brought back to life (lol), but we shall see! I will check back in at the end of the challenge to let you guys know if I noticed any changes, or if my hair is in the same condition.
